An anchor is used to stop a ship or boat from drifting away and getting off course, to keep your boat from drifting as the current sends you crashing into the rocks, or runs your boat aground. Even if the seas are not treacherous, the anchor is imperative to keep you on course. A boat that starts to drift away can be pulled back again if it is securely anchored. Just as the water's current is subtle but very strong, the world's currents can be as well. Each of us need an anchor in our lives to secure us against the dangers of the world to our souls.

Jesus is our ANCHOR.

His Word is our anchor. He keeps us from being crashed into the rocks, or run aground in our lives. Sometimes it may feel like you are in a terrible storm, and you are holding on by a very thin line; but remember, the size of the line is not as important as what it is attached to. If you are attached to Jesus, your ANCHOR, then He will hold you steady and secure. You can trust in Him! As an old hymn says, "We have an anchor that keeps the soul, steadfast and sure while the billows roll, fastened to the Rock which cannot move, grounded firm and deep in the Savior's Love." Our anchor is Hope. Jesus is the Rock that keeps our anchor steadfast, sure, and immovable, so that when those waves begin to crash down, we don't lose hope and drift away.
